Creepypastas- our new Urban Legends

Last updated on November 11th, 2023 at 09:27 am

Creepypasta is one of the most popular horror fiction sites on the Internet. Launched by 4chan in 2008, the site now has thousands of entries.

Usually the stories are narrated in the first person format as  “It Happened To Me.” Their stories have launched themselves into the Internet and have become urban lore. Many believe they are real and have “proof” that these stories have been around for decades, not years.

Slenderman, The Rake , Black Eyed Kids, all originated in Creepypasta.

Creepypasta also hosts- SCP- Secure, Contain, Protect. A secret agency-The Foundation- tracks down and captures objects or creatures that threaten human lives.

It would be impossible to list the thousands of entries. But some stories and SCP’s have added images so linked to the stories that they have a life of their own.

These photos are what I can track down. I will link the stories in full.

One of their best known stories is “The Russian Sleep Experiment.” Several readers have stated this was their first Creepypasta.

In 1940 the Russian scientists conducted a sleep deprivation experiment using 5 men. It did not go well for the 5 men. This is their story.

What made this believable was Nazi records of experiments tried on captives of death camps. The Soviet Union also performed questionable experiments. There is a video on Youtube that they decapitated a dog and kept the head alive for several hours. I am not linking that video because it is ghastly.

And this image of a survivor.

The skeletal ,strait-jacketed, insanely grinning man was very disturbing and still is to viewers. The stark surroundings  and the Black and White photography add to the sheer creepiness of the photo.

Now, he just does not look the same

This is an almost life -sized Halloween prop. He is titled Spasm by Morbid Industries. He was released in 2005 and again in 2016. He also shivers and laughs.

Next photo is an image of a canine/human .Most popular photo has this creature peering thru a  window as it stalks you. Labeled  a werewolf ,dogman,  skinwalker or unknown by many viewers.

He is SCP-1471 although he is not possible to be contained at this point. It starts as a free mobile application by an unknown developer. This app can bypass all safeguards and can load itself. Then this image appears. The creature can manifest itself and haunt you. So far this creature is scary but not openly hostile. You must delete this program as soon as possible or get rid of the phone.

But we know where he came from . He originated from Deviant Art. The creator is Tarangryph from Sweden. She created this fursuit that she named  Breynz the Zombie Werewolf and she is well aware this is a Creepypasta. She designed Breynz for a MCM Comic Com in London on Oct 2011. I am including her link for more photos.

The Expressionless

This photo of an odd woman was taken to a hospital and the story gets weird . But the photo is not of the patient.

The oddly blank woman is a training medical dummy.

12 Cedar Senai Hospital photo by Anthony Armstrong-Jones, titled “Student Nurses with Waxwork Patient,” from his 1972 book ASSIGNMENTS.

This is her Creepypasta story.

This is it for now. There will be more Creepypasta leads in the future . Read the stories . The stories are excellent stories but they are not meant to be truth any more than urban legends of the Hook or Bloody Mary.
